• In this piece, I will be discussing some batters who intrigue me on the free agent market that are owned in less than 50% of 15-team leagues in The Great Fantasy Baseball Invitational (TGFBI). If you are in a 12-team league or just a home fantasy baseball league, these might be players to keep an eye on, but not necessarily add right now. In addition, I will suggest bid ranges for these players based on the projected impact that I see them bringing to your team.

There are a couple of 2023 All-Stars on this week’s list, as well as some players that are just getting their careers started. Let’s dive in!

    Justyn-Henry Malloy, DET 3B (30% owned)

Malloy, 24, was called up to make his major league debut as the corresponding move for Spencer Torkelson being demoted to AAA a couple of weeks ago. Since his arrival, Malloy has been receiving regular at-bats and has shown some encouraging signs in a short sample size. In his small 11 game stint, Malloy has walked at an elite 13% rate, which has been his calling card throughout the minor leagues. In addition, Malloy has a stellar hard-hit rate and exit velocities, so hopefully his watchful eye and powerful bat can equate to an impactful hitter for fantasy managers. This season, Malloy is hitting .188 with two home runs and a .714 OPS and if he can lower his horrid 38% K rate, he could have the makings of a good fantasy option.

Verdict: One of the better profiles available in many leagues this week. I’m interested in buying at over 1%. ($10-20)
