Blake Snell OVER 16.5 Pitching Outs
Blake Snell continues his Cy Young campaign at Chase Field and is one of the only positive storylines for the Padres this season. In seven appearances against the Diamondbacks in his career, Snell has a 4-1 record with an 0.84 ERA. He made two starts against Arizona last season in which he allowed a combined two runs over 13 innings with 17 strikeouts. While Snell hasn’t gone over 15 pitching outs in his last two starts, his pitch count has eclipsed 100 in all but one of his starts since the beginning of July. His July ERA was 0.56 and his June ERA was 0.87 so we are getting peak Snellzilla against the team that has scored the third fewest amount of runs since the All-Star break.
Lance Lynn UNDER 8.0 Pitcher Strikeouts
Lance Lynn has no doubt improved since arriving in Los Angeles. Mark Prior and the Dodgers’ pitching staff seem to have worked their magic on the veteran right-hander, but it’s only been two games and Lynn hasn’t registered more than seven strikeouts in any of his last five starts. In 23 starts this season, Lynn has only gotten eight or more strikeouts in five of them. The Rockies are bottom-feeders in the NL West, but they showed some fight against Clayton Kershaw on Thursday and this number is high. It is the highest strikeout total on the board among all starting pitchers.
Underdog Fantasy
Corbin Burnes OVER 7.0 Strikeouts
Are we going to get good Corbin Burnes tonight? With the Chicago White Sox as the foil, it will be a favorable matchup for him. The White Sox are in absolute disarray and are, frankly, an embarrassment at the moment. Luis Robert, the White Sox’s only bright spot this season, departed early in their last game against the Yankees. If Trayce Thompson gets those at-bats, this number will be even more manageable for the 2021 NL Cy Young Winner.
Adam Wainwright OVER 6.5 Hits Allowed
With the Cardinals’ season essentially over, there is not much for them to play for. If there were, I’m not so sure we’d be seeing Adam Wainwright starting at this point in the year. With that said, his retirement tour continues in Kansas City against a Royals team that has been much improved lately. The Royals are actually second in hits over the last 15 days, behind only the Braves. In 14 starts this year, Wainwright has given up more than six hits in 11 of them.

Nick Castellanos OVER 1.5 Total Bases
Dallas Keuchel gets the start for the Twins tonight after somehow surviving his last start by only giving up one run on zero strikeouts and eight hits. The Phillies have looked much better in their current homestand and Nick Castellanos is one of the reasons why. He’s hit three home runs in the last two games and has gone 7-for-18 against Dallas Keuchel in his career. Castellanos has a hit in every August game so far and has gone over 1.5 Total Bases in seven out of the ten games this month.
Austin Riley OVER 0.5 Total RBIs + Runs
The Braves travel to Queens to take on the Mets and Tylor Megill. This game could’ve been meaningful in the NL East landscape, but instead is a lopsided matchup between one of the best teams in the league vs. one of the worst. Much like the Mets, Megill’s performances have been underwhelming and not noteworthy. Austin Riley, on the other hand, has been quietly solid in August with a .308 batting average and a run or RBI in six out of nine August games.
