• In today’s featured slate, there are some bonafide aces on the mound. Gerrit Cole, Nathan Eovaldi and Framber Valdez will be pitching tonight, as will Clayton Kershaw in a cross-divisional, local matchup between the Dodgers and Angels in Anaheim. Some of the games that I will be looking to target are the Rockies in Cincinnati, Arizona in Milwaukee and Oakland in Cleveland. These games have the highest run totals on the board and present some intriguing matchups that should yield some big DFS totals.

This is for the 6/20 4:05 PM PST classic slate on Draftkings.

    Writer’s Record

    30-20-1

Arizona Diamondbacks ML (+105) @ Milwaukee Brewers

The Diamondbacks are great value here with how hot they have been. They’re coming up against Colin Rea a day after crushing Corbin Burnes. I will take the team with the 5th best record in the league at plus money against a team who is barely .500

    DFS Pillar Plays

    Justin Verlander

    Position: P

    Salary: $7,300

No doubt about it, Justin Verlander’s numbers are down. His ability to get batters out has come into question at points this season, but he’s not been completely ineffective. He has had eight starts so far this year. In three starts, he has allowed four or more runs. In his five other starts, he has allowed only six combined runs. JV’s most recent start came last Wednesday against the Yankees, where the three time Cy Young winner gave up only three hits in six innings. The Astros gave Verlander a tribute video on Monday and he will be in familiar territory on the mound in Space City. He is the 13th highest priced pitcher on the board Tuesday.

    Corbin Carroll

    Position: OF

    Salary: $5,700

Corbin Carroll is a top DFS producer and he has been very productive this month. So far, in June, the rookie has 15 XBH with 17 RBIs with 20 runs scored. Carroll has homered twice in the last three games and now has the second lowest odds behind only Ronald Acuña Jr for NL MVP at +400 (+900 in some books). With Colin Rea starting for the Brewers, the Diamondbacks look to be one of the more attractive stacks for the evening. This could be one of the last starts Rea makes for the Brewers, as their rotation works its way back to full health and he finds himself on the bottom end of it. Arizona beat Milwaukee 9-1 on Monday and look locked in for the top spot in the NL West.

    Joey Votto

    Position: 1B

    Salary: $4,200

I will be playing a few different Reds batters and Joey Votto will be one of them. Votto looked up to the challenge of playing winning baseball yesterday. He had a clutch single that knocked in two runs and a solo shot earlier in the game. The youth movement has arrived in Cincinnati, but they had to rely on the vet to get them the W with all eyes on them Monday evening. Noah Davis gets the call up for Colorado and he struggled in his brief stint in the rotation earlier this year. The atmosphere, plus the matchup, on top of GABP being the third most hitter-friendly park make Joey Votto and the Reds a healthy DFS target.

    Jose Ramirez

    Position: 3B

    Salary: $5,200

J-Ram has very quietly had a very nice couple of weeks. Over the last two weeks, the Guardians have played 11 games in which Ramirez has accumulated 19 hits with nine of those going for extra bases. Cleveland welcomes Oakland to town with the A’s most likely opting to go for Luis Medina after Ken Waldichuk serves as the opener.

    DFS Value Plays (<$3000 Salary)

    Jordan Walker

    Position: OF

    Salary: $3,000

The young prospect’s hitting streak is now sitting at 12 games. He is hitting fifth in this lineup and salary has remained steady around $3,000, despite his hot hitting. The Cardinals have won three in a row and Walker is one of the reasons why they’ve been able to get a little bit of momentum. Walker has eight RBIs over his hitting streak and four of his six home runs on the season have come over the last 12 games.

    Bo Naylor

    Position: C

    Salary: $2,500

People have been calling for Naylor to be called up all season and it has finally happened. The catcher spot has given Cleveland very little this year and there was nowhere to go but up in terms of production from the position. Naylor was able to get on base and score a run in his lone game since his call-up. He is confirmed to be hitting in the nine spot for the Guardians today against the A’s.
