• The Dodgers won via a walk-off walk in a game that ended around 2 A.M. EST last night. Condolences to any Twins fans that stayed up for that. We had some massive DFS scores yesterday with high-scoring games like the Cardinals winning 18-1, the Braves winning 12-0 and the Mariners winning 10-1, just to name a few.

There are a few pitching probables to look out for in the 4 o’clock slate. Clayton Kershaw will be pitching with a heavy heart with his mother passing over the weekend. He will make this start, then step away from the clubhouse. Justin Verlander, Kevin Gausman, Luis Castillo and Justin Steele are just some of the other aces taking the mound today.

This is for the 5/16 4:07 PM PST slate on DraftKings. As always, make sure to check lineups before first pitch.

    Thrive Fantasy Picks

    Rafael Devers over .5 RBIs

Wander Franco over .5 Total Runs

    Luis Castillo over 5.5 Ks

Kyle Tucker under .5 Total Hits

Esteury Ruiz under .5 Total Runs

    Writer’s record

    12-12-1

Texas Rangers ML vs. Atlanta Braves (-110)

The Braves are calling up 24-year-old left-hander Jared Shuster and the Rangers have Dane Dunning going, who is a make-shift starter. Dunning’s last 2 starts have gone really well. He gave up only 2 combined runs in those 2 games. The Rangers are at home and won’t be happy about getting pantsed yesterday.

Chicago Cubs ML @ Houston Astros (+140)

Justin Steele is 6-0 this year. Some of that is definitely luck, but I’ll take him and the Cubbies at this plus number. The Astros lineup hasn’t been that intimidating this year, while the Cubs are getting production from unexpected places.

    DFS Pillar Plays

    Zack Wheeler

    Position: P

    Salary: $9,200

This is kind of a difficult pitching slate to predict. While you do have top guys going, their matchups give some cause for concern. For instance, JV has the Rays in town, Gausman has Alejandro Kirk’s pitch-tipping stance to worry about and I just don’t feel comfortable playing Kershaw given the circumstances. That leads us down the line to Zack Wheeler. He’s been a little inconsistent but has put up 25+ fantasy points in three out of his last four starts. He’s shown flashes lately of what led him to be the NL strikeout leader only two years ago.

    Randal Grichuk

    Position: OF

    Salary: $4,100

Grichuk has a hit in every game he’s played this year. The Reds will be calling up rookie Brandon Williamson for this game. Grichuk has three doubles in the last four games and is carrying a .986 OPS on the year. He scored two runs and had two hits against the Reds last night.

    Marcus Semien

    Position: 2B

    Salary: $5,800

Even though the Rangers got shutout yesterday, Semien still managed to score nine fantasy points by going 3-for-5. He’s gotten on base in 14 straight games. The Rangers should have an easier time of it today as the 24-year-old Jared Shuster will be called up for the Braves. Shuster has had two starts this year at the major league level, where he’s amassed an 8.31 ERA.

    DFS Value Plays (<$3300 Salary)

    Jose Siri

    Position: OF

    Salary: $2,800

The flashy Jose Siri was a crucial contributor to the Rays’ success in the Bronx. The Rays stay in NY to take on the lowly Mets. Siri scored a run in all three games vs. the Yanks along with getting a homer and a double. Verlander has looked rusty and the Rays are the best team in the league. This series could line up to be ugly for the Metropolitans.

    J.P. Crawford

    Position: SS

    Salary: $3,300

J.P. Crawford has reached base safely in 12 straight. Nick Pivetta goes for the Red Sox, and he struggled in his last start. Crawford has scored five runs in his last five games. He’s one of the cheapest lead-off men on the board and this Mariners team is starting to feel it.

    Alex Kirilloff

    Position: 1B/OF

    Salary: $2,600

Kirilloff fell victim to some absolutely atrocious Phil Cuzzi calls last night. That’s part of the reason he ended up 1-for-7 in yesterday’s game. He’s batting 2nd in this Twins lineup, and has a 1.078 OPS. Small sample size, yes, but he’s a good hitter and he’s incredible value at $2,600.
