For most fantasy managers, Week 14 is the final week to make a mark and clinch a playoff spot. Those with fantasy postseason aspirations need to adopt a win-or-go-home mentality, so this week’s Buy/Sell will focus on players to either buy or sell who are either on the start/sit borderline or to adjust expectations and adapt decisions for the rest of your lineups accordingly knowing it’s likely a must-win scenario. Let’s get you into the playoffs!
Buy-Low
TE T.J. Hockenson, Vikings
Tight end is one of those positions where you have no choice but to start your guy even after a poor game, but this is one where not only should fantasy managers continue to roll with Hockenson but have faith in a top-5 type of finish in Week 14. We know that the Jets pass defense is absolutely no joke, so it wasn’t totally surprising to see Kirk Cousins complete barely 60% of his passes in Week 13. However, Hockenson was still plenty involved running a route on 92% of Cousins’ dropbacks while playing on nearly 90% of the Vikings’ total offensive snaps. It’s clear that Hockenson has quickly become well-integrated into the Vikings’ offensive game plan with no fewer than six targets in every game since getting traded from the division rival Lions just before Week 9. Now, he’ll get a huge revenge game opportunity in Week 14 against his old Lions compatriots, who despite making inroads defensively lately are still far from being of the same caliber as the Jets. The Lions have given up the 4th-most points to opposing tight ends, and Hockenson’s return to Ford Field should be a high-scoring affair with some extra emotion and adrenaline pumping after spending the first four years of his career there.
