Jeff Saturday came within 84 seconds of pulling off a colossal upset against the Eagles and stay undefeated as interim coach coach, but the Eagles orchestrated a big drive in the final two minutes that ended in Jalen Hurts waltzing untouched into the endzone for the game-winning, seven-yard rushing score. You’ve got to hand it to the scrappy Colts under their inexperienced coach though, as they rode another run-heavy offensive game plan (45% rush rate) and stout defensive effort (three sacks, three pass deflections) to lead for most of this game against the unanimous midseason Super Bowl favorites. The Eagles were limited to just a field goal through three quarters and were looking like they were still groggy from their first loss of the season last week to the Commanders, but mustered just enough at the end to hang around and keep it a one-possession game.

Top Performers

QB Jalen Hurts

The first game without Dallas Goedert (IR for shoulder) was another passing sludge for Hurts (190-1-0 passing, 16-86-1 rushing, 24.2 total fantasy points), who despite completing 72% of his passes in this game failed to reach 200 passing yards for the second straight contest. Nonetheless, he delivered his fourth-straight fantasy outing of 20-plus points thanks to his best rushing yardage game since the season opener. He had been averaging a lowly 22 rushing yards per game over his last four, so this was very refreshing to see especially against a Colts front that has allowed the 8th-fewest rushing yards to opposing fantasy QBs.

RB Jonathan Taylor

The Taylor (22-84-1 rushing, one fumble lost, 3-10-0 receiving, 14.9 total fantasy points) post-injury revival continued rolling on with another strong all-around effort. The turnover and sub-4.0 YPC were the lone blemishes on an otherwise very solid fantasy day for Taylor. There was obviously concern in fantasy circles around his ankle and whether he’d be able to make up for lost time and produce like his top-3 ADP. It certainly looks like he’s reclaimed his form and also is enjoying an uptick in volume with his first back-to-back games of 22-plus carries of the season. Under Saturday’s leadership, Taylor has carried the rock a combined 44 times compared to 60 pass attempts from Matt Ryan over that same span. It’s much more balanced than their splits under Frank Reich, and Taylor’s managers should feel good about his prospects in the stretch run to the fantasy playoffs.

Biggest Busts

RB Miles Sanders

The Colts defense had been giving up the 12th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs, so Sanders’ (13-47-0 rushing, 1-1-0 receiving, 5.3 total fantasy points) second straight poor showing was a major disappointment. Some of it could also be attributed to Hurts siphoning off a good chunk of volume with his highest carry total in six games, but 14 touches also should have been enough for Sanders to at least post a double-digit fantasy point total in a game in which the Eagles were projected to be easy favorites. The Packers will present another good matchup on paper (13th-most fantasy points allowed to RBs), but Sanders will have to find some better efficiency after averaging a mediocre 4.0 YPC over these past two games.

WR A.J. Brown

Since Brown’s 36.6-point explosion in Week 8, he has averaged just 7.2 fantasy points per game in three games since. Brown (5-60-0 receiving, seven targets, one fumble lost, 6.5 total fantasy points) was hampered by a bum ankle leading up to this game, but it was still a big letdown especially given the high volume expectations with Goedert sidelined. The 28% target share Brown commanded in this one was solid, but fantasy managers were probably hoping for something above 30% without Goedert. It’s likely that Brown and DeVonta Smith (6-78-0 receiving, nine targets, 10.8 total fantasy points) will see-saw in leading the team in targets while Goedert is out, and Smith simply had the 9-7 advantage this time.
