According to David Aldridge of the Athletic, the Cavs don't plan to buyout Tristan Thompson.

This could be posturing from the Cavs as they now have a loaded frontcourt after acquiring Andre Drummond at the deadline. Thompson could lose significant value with the Drummond addition while Larry Nance Jr. could also see his value decline with the recent move. Continue to monitor this situation in case the Cavs front office decides to change course.
