Working the Waiver Wire: June 30th

  • In today’s article, we’re going to focus on some high priority adds: four players who are already rostered in a number of leagues, but need to be picked up in even more. This may be the “last call” on a few of these guys, as they are all performing rather well, at the moment, so team managers should hurry to their waiver wires and scoop them up!

    Spencer Steer – 1B,OF – CIN – 59% Yahoo

Steer has had a rough start to the season, but lately, he’s been picking things up considerably. Steer has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games, and over that time frame, he’s posted a .442/.444/.837 slash line with four home runs (including a career-high three homers in a game this past Friday), eight runs scored, 10 RBI and two stolen bases. Steer won’t stay this hot, of course. His .469 BABIP during this stretch point to some negative regression, but, after the abysmal start, he’s got his season-long slash up to .254/.306/.401, and I expect his numbers to continue to climb as he improves upon his career low 6.8% walk rate. The 27-year-old has a pretty good track record, posting a .271/.356/.464 triple-slash during his best season, in 2023, so it was only a matter of time before he started turning things around at the plate. Steer should be picked up in any league where he remains unrostered.
