In today’s edition of Working the Waiver Wire, we’ve got a man (mane?) coming off a 15 strikeout performance, a young guy swinging a hot bat, a veteran slugger about to make his long-awaited season debut and a rookie getting his first taste of the big leagues. So without further ado, let’s get into it!
Grant Holmes – SP – ATL – 56% Yahoo
Holmes was a hard-luck loser against the Rockies on Sunday despite earning a quality start, allowing three runs (two earned) on just two hits and two walks while tossing a whopping 15 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. In his first full season as a starter, the luxuriously-locked right-hander is sporting a 3.97 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with an impressive 10.44 strikeouts per nine innings (K/9). Holmes has plenty of strikeout upside and makes for a strong streaming option, even in shallower leagues, heading into a favorable matchup this weekend against the Marlins.
