Working the Waiver Wire: April 16th

  • The second full week of the 2025 season is delivering plenty of intrigue, from late-spring call-ups to early bullpen shakeups and high-upside arms returning to action. Whether you’re trying to outbid your league mates on the next big thing or just scrape together some saves, now’s the time to hit the wire hard. Here are four players rostered in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues who could make a difference this week and maybe beyond.

    Michael Busch – CHC – 1B – 53% rostered (Yahoo)

Michael Busch is starting to make the Dodgers regret letting him go. The Cubs’ new first baseman slugged his fourth homer of the season Monday and now sports a .310/.394/.621 line with 12 RBI and 12 runs scored through 18 games. He’s found his groove against righties and is holding down a regular role in the heart of the order.

The plate discipline is improving—his K-rate continues to improve over time and is down compared to 2024 and the quality of contact looks legit. Busch was once a top-50 prospect for a reason, and he’s flashing that upside now. He’s a must-add in 12-team leagues if you need CI help, and he won’t be this available for long if the power surge continues.
