Injuries, suspensions, poor play. The waiver wire in some (most) basketball leagues is a living, breathing list of players that, at any point, can be jolted to full time action. Some will hit for you. Some won’t hit for you. Some will stick for weeks. Some will stick for one game and you jettison them off your team.
Let me guide you through some of the key performances from tonight’s game and help you understand what kind of value they will have for your fantasy teams.
NOTE: This article will be update throughout the night and into the morning as I sift through the box scores.
Standard Leagues
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Caris LeVert (14% rostered)
Tonight’s game: 27 minutes, seven points (1-for-6 FG, 4-of-4 FT), five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, two blocks.
He continues to be a steady source of triples, dimes and defensive stats. He has provided top-150 per game value on the year, and as long as he can maintain this kind of usage with a healthy Cavs team, he might be able to maintain the solid 47.7% FG% (ignore tonight…) to go with enough counting stats to keep him viable.
Andrew Nembhard (29% rostered)
Tonight’s game: 33 minutes, 10 points (4-of-12 FG, 2-of-5 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, three steals.
With Haliburton missing, there was more to do and Nembhard was there to capitalize for managers. While this opportunity is there for him, Nembhard is capable of dropping more dimes with the ball not always in Haliburton’s hands. Add on steals and percentages that (usually) don’t kill you, you’ve got a nice stream. Aaron Nesmith is working his way back, and Haliburton’s return won’t help either, so this run for Nembhard may come to an end soon.
T.J. McConnell (17% rostered)
Tonight’s game; 21 minutes, 10 points (5-of-11 FG), eight dimes, one steal.
