As we dwindle down to the bitter end, roster rates are a bit skewed. A lot of managers are out of it and are not active. So someone who is 30%-40% owned, might be fully owned by the managers who are still active.
So in today’s pickup, I’m going to be giving you names that have pretty low rostership numbers on Yahoo. There are two names that are under 8% and the most rostered player is the first name up.
Pavin Smith – 1B, OF – ARI – 21% Yahoo, 19% Fantrax
This dude has been on a heater like crazy to end the season. Since he started getting starts on a near every day basis on September 8, he is slashing .400/.488/.914 with four homers and 15 RBI. He has walked at an incredible 16.3% rate. The wOBA is an insane .559 and the wRC+ is 265.
Those numbers are pretty damn good, yall.
The statcast numbers, you ask? Well, he has not gotten nearly enough at bats to qualify for the leaderboards, so let me put it this way: the hazed out red on the Baseball Savant page is all the way to the right on the following numbers:
- xwOBA – .404
- xBA – .304
- xSLG – .543
- avgEV – 90.7
- Barrel rate – 14.0%
- Squared up – 34.6%
- Chase rate – 16.9%
- Whiff rate – 19.9%
Smith’s production in this short time has been elite and has been legit. Since September 8, he has had one day off, doing well even against lefties (10 PA, .420 wOBA, 171 wRC+).
He has been a hot add lately so go make sure you’re not missing out.
