Pickups of the Day for June 26th

  • Another Wednesday and another set of potential waiver adds for your league. Today, we leadoff with a pair of promising young hitters in the AL East and a new starter on one of the best teams in baseball. As we look toward the stretch run and fantasy playoff’s it’s all about adds that can help you both now and later.

    Heston Kjerstad – OF – BAL – 25% Yahoo, 59% Fantrax

The second overall pick in the 2020 draft has had a hard time finding playing time for the big club amongst the Orioles elite young crop of stud prospects, but his play at AAA Norfolk paired with Colton Cowser’s recent lackluster performance may just be forcing the issue. Kjerstad was called up by the O’s on Monday after having nothing else to prove in the minors. He has hit an impressive 16 home and 58 RBI with a .301 average and .998 OPS down on the farm and has performed at every level of the minors so far. This is Kjerstad’s second stint in the majors this year as he only received 17 plate appearances over a 17 game stretch earlier this year. He immediately slotted into the heart of the Orioles lineup on Monday and wen 2-for-4 with a double and while he was on the bench on Tuesday, he is worth a speculative add in 14+ team and 5OF leagues and watching in shallower formats as few hitters or prospects present the amount of upside he possesses especially while hitting alongside the already lethal Orioles lineup.
