Pickups of the Day for June 25th

  • Once again Tuesday and Wednesday gives us a full schedule with every team playing, so plenty of short term adds, as well as season long considerations.  This is always an important time in the fantasy season, with decisions to be made on players returning from the injured list and whether to cut underperforming players, or to take a chance on them returning to form.  Tuesday offers a couple of catchers and new closers, and there are always teams looking for saves in Fantasy.  So let’s take a look at what is available.

    Hunter Goodman – C/1B/OF – COL – Yahoo, 32% FanTrax, 18% CBS

Goodman is finally receiving regular playing time and has been making the most of it. With catcher Elias Diaz and outfielder Charlie Blackman on the injured list, and neither expected back in the short term, Goodman should be in line for regular bats over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, Colorado only plays five games this week, but they do have a seven game home-stand at Coors field next week. If you’re in need of catching help, he is a great option especially if you’re looking towards next week’s schedule. Goodman was a catcher in the minors and has played five games there this season so qualifies on Yahoo, but not on other sites yet. He’s not going to offer you much in batting average, however over the last two weeks he has seven runs, five home runs and ten RBIs.  He is not a points league option as his 27.5% K% and 2.9% BB% are well below average, but his xSLG% of .472 and 13.0% Barrel rate are well above average, especially with home games at Coors Field.
