The first Saturday of September means the last week of the fantasy baseball regular season for most leagues. This means each and every waiver wire add from this point forward is very vital for those of us in the playoff hunt. Let’s see if we can find some difference makers.
Ke’Bryan Hayes – 3B, PIT – 55% Yahoo
Hayes is coming off his best month of the season, after missing all but one game in July. Over August, he hit .320, with 31 hits (13 for extra bases; 6 of those home runs), 13 runs, 20 RBI and a 20:8 K:BB, which was his best since April. Now that he is fully healthy, it seems he is taking advantage of career highs in exit velocity, strikeout percentage, barrel rate and launch angle (his 13.7 launch angle is a full 8.5 higher than his previous highest, in 2022). He’s been leading off far more often than not (and batting 2nd or 3rd when not leading off), hitting more fly balls than ever before and finally driving the ball with power. He’s a must add in all 14-team or larger leagues and in smaller leagues that have deeper rosters.
