Hi Fantasy Baseball heads, we’re back for another Sunday edition of hot adds. It’s almost July, and it’s time to really assess dead weight and begin cycling for a rest-of-season asset. We’ve seen hot hitters (Lane Thomas, Jorge Soler) and some stud rookie arms come off the wire in 2023 fantasy baseball, and we’re here to confirm your next leads or point you to some solid options we like.
Bryan Woo (SP, Mariners)
Bryan Woo was marketed as a K asset, and he has followed through by delivering 25 Ks in his first 17 and 2/3 innings in the MLB. Woo was a hot add upon call-up, but he was dropped in droves after a rough first start against Texas (one of the top offenses). Since then Woo has gone 15.2 innings with 21 Ks and only given up 4 runs in that span. Woo struck out 143 hitters in 101 innings in the minors, and he has the Nationals on the 27th for his next start; I’d recommend an add if he’s still hanging out on the waiver wire (17% Yahoo).
Griffin Canning (SP, Angels)
Somewhat lost in the Angels’ 25-run romp against the Rockies was another gem by Griffin Canning. Dating back to May 23rd, Canning has started six games, and five of those six were quality starts. In his last 30 days, Canning has had a 2.79 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 32 Ks in 29 innings with 3 wins. He’s been providing standard league value. The Angels do run a 6-man rotation, so that must be taken into consideration.
