MLB Pickups of the Day for July 13th

  •  With no games until Friday for the All-Star break, we’ve got three power-packed pickups to fuel your fantasy playoff push.

    Tyler Soderstrom, 1B

The Oakland Athletics announced yesterday that they’d be calling up their number one prospect, Tyler Soderstrom, for their Friday game against the Twins. Soderstrom has produced at an elite offensive level in the minors this year, and could potentially be a steal of a pickup depending on where he plays. Soderstrom is a natural catcher, who is expected to get some time behind the plate, but with Shea Langeliers likely to keep the majority of the reps, the rookie will either primarily play 1B or DH, depending on the club’s opinion of his first base defense compared to current stalwart Ryan Noda. In any league that gives points for putouts, Soderstrom playing first with catcher eligibility is gold, and could instantly make him an elite fantasy catcher.
