Hard to believe we just wrapped up the month of April and Week 4 of fantasy baseball already. It looks like players all across the league are finding some sort of groove or momentum. With that, I evaluated the players I believe you should scoop up in your fantasy baseball league off of the waiver wire. It features some names that I have mentioned on my Twitter over the past week (@Andrew_FBB). All rostering numbers referenced are via ESPN.
Jonah Heim C Rangers 37% Owned
Jonah Heim was someone that was considered a breakout candidate going into last season, while he had his moments throughout the year, he never really took the leap. So far in 2023, he’s slashing .315/4 HR/16 RBI/.999 OPS through 64 plate appearances. With Mitch Garver landing on the injured list with a knee issue two weeks ago, Heim’s playing time has increased allowing him to get into more of a rhythm. He has an xBA of .307 which is top 8% in the league and fairly close to his true batting average. In a year where there are only a few standout options at the catcher position. He is also being a lot more patient at the plate with a 13 BB% which is much better than his 9% in 2022. This has allowed him to see some better pitches, and in turn, he has upped his barrel percentage by 8% from last year as well. Heim looks to be having his anticipated breakout this year and with Garver on the shelf for at least another month I would snag Heim!
