    Injury News

    1. Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers placed on the 15-day injured list with a right foot sprain, retroactive to June 13. McCullers suffered the injury in the weight room during a “freak accident.” The Astros expect him to miss the minimum amount of time.
    2. SP Tylor Megill was placed on the 15-day IL with a right elbow strain, retroactive to June 15. The Mets will be without the right-hander for at least four or five weeks, though the good news is an MRI revealed there was no structural damage, so there is no surgery required. The plan is for Megill to rest for a week or two and then, if he is pain free, to resume throwing and ramp back up. He should be back by the end of August.
    3. The Blue Jays placed SP Bowden Francis on the 15-day IL with a right shoulder impingement, retroactive to June 15. He received a cortisone shot but has not resumed throwing. There is no timetable for his return, but the expectations are sometime in July. You can drop him in all but the deepest of leagues.
    4. C Gabriel Moreno was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hand contusion, retroactive to June 16. The Diamondbacks starting catcher’s injury was updated to a hairline fracture of his right index finger and the recovery timetable will be measured in weeks, not days. He’s probably a safe drop in 1-catcher leagues with less than 16 teams and in shallower two catcher leagues.
    5. Cardinals C Ivan Herrera was placed on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain on June 20. An MRI revealed he has a Grade 2 strain, which means he will miss somewhere between two and six weeks. Place on your IL and hold.
    6. Orioles C Adley Rutschman was placed on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain, retroactive to June 20. This is the first time in Rutschman’s big league career he has hit the injured list, and he is expected to be out through at least the All Star break, if not a bit longer, as the recovery time for oblique strain’s, even the least problematic, is usually four or five weeks.
    7. The Texas Rangers placed 1B/3B Jake Burger on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain on Saturday. Burger does not believe the injury to be that serious and does not expect to moss more than the minimum 10 days.
    8. Braves SP Chris Sale was placed on the 15-day IL due to a fractured left ribcage, retroactive to June 19. Sale suffered a rib injury in 2022 and missed nearly four months with that injury, so there is some fear that, if the injury is bad enough and the recovery timetable extends itself, his 2025 season may be through. Right now, the severity of the injury and a return timetable are unknown, so hold for now (or even sell for like 60-75% if you can) and wait until there is further news.
    9. SP Ryan Yarborough was placed on the 15-day IL retroactive to June 20 with a right oblique strain. The Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that is a low-grade strain and the Yankees do not expect him to be out for too long. He will resume throwing as soon as he is symptom free, but a current return timetable is unknown.
