It is trade season and that means some dudes are going to get more opportunities as a result of roster shuffles that are beginning to happen. In today’s pickups, I give you two names who should benefit from the recent moves plus one two-start arm that needs to be rostered in almost every weekly league.
Michael Wacha – SP – Royals – 50% Yahoo
It is Sunday and if you are looking for a two start pitchers in your weekly matchup leagues, look no further than Wacha. He has two stellar matchups with week, first against the White Sox and then he gets the Tigers (who are now going to be without Riley Greene).
Wacha, for his last six starts, owns a 2.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP with an OK K-rate of 22.2% and a solid walk rate of 6.7%, so that should help that ratio. He has also limited the line drives at a low 17% rate and has been inducing a ton groundballs with that rate up to 48.9%. He also has had some bad home run luck with a high 18.8% HR-FB ratio.
Managers can do a lot worse than Wacha against these matchups in weekly formats.
In daily change leagues, he is a must add for the matchup against the White Sox on Tuesday.
League size recommendation: 12-team leagues, 10-team weekly.
