Pickups of the Day for July 6th

  • Today I’ve got one name I have had on here before but no one seems to want to listen. Followed by two new names to my part of the Pickups world that are owned in less than a quarter of Yahoo leagues. The grind of the fantasy baseball season never stops and the wire is always changing. Let’s see who managers have been overlooking.

    Harrison Bader – OF – NYM – 14% Yahoo

Something has to be said about a bat that just stays consistent all year. A bat you have on your bench and you can comfortably put in your starting lineup when you have injuries to your main dudes, or those main dudes get an off day. A bat that may not light-up the box score up but won’t post a ton of 0-for-nadas.

    That has been Harrison Bader.

His batting average has not dropped below .257 since April 11. It hit an absurd peak of .333 but has remained between the mid-.260s and mid-.270s for a large portion of the season. Never going much higher and never dropping much lower. He has also stolen 13 bases, hit six homers, scored 33 runs and drove in 31. He could definitely end with a 15/25 season to go with a .270-.280 batting average.

He has the expected batting average of .269 that is paired with a league average whiff and strikeout rate to give managers confidence his batting average is legit. His elite launch angle/sweet spot marks go with his league average barrel rate gives managers confidence he will still produce some power. I will not be a ton but definitely enough to matter. The steals are also a legit part of his fantasy profile with his 73rd percentile sprint speed so he should continue to get steals.

League size recommendation: 12-team, five-outfield leagues
