The Suns have selected Maryland's Jalen Smith with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 draft.
The Suns are the first team to veer way off the board here, with Smith falling to the mid-teens and early twenties in most mock drafts. A great big man for the modern game, Smith has a high basketball IQ and and can knock down the 3-pointer. He should be able to fill the stretch five role of the likely departing Aron Baynes. While he's not the most mobile player, Smith's ability to rebound, block shots and play with good energy should allow him to play a role in the early going. In his last season at Maryland, Smith averaged 2.4 blocks per contest while hitting his threes at a 36.8% clip. It's a stat set that figures to excite fantasy GMs.
