The calendar has rolled over to June and the weather is heating up across the country. Many games will be played in warm weather and therefore in favorable hitting environments. A couple exceptions are the Chicago Cubs and LA Angeles. Those hitters face some of this week’s poorest-hitting environments because they’re playing most of their games in chilly temps that will be 15-20 colder than most other MLB parks.
Targets: This Week’s Best Hitting Environments
- Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati (Tuesday-Thursday; fairly warm with temperatures 75-80 degrees plus a little boost from a light outbound wind)
- NY Mets at Atlanta (Tuesday-Thursday) AND Washington at Atlanta (Friday-Sunday). Both Atlanta series provide this week’s best combination of heat and humidity. The only catch is that each game has a 20 to 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms so don’t be surprised if there’s at least one rain delay or rainout in Atlanta this week.
- San Francisco at Colorado (Tuesday). Most games at Coors need to be included in this section. Exceptions, though, are the Wednesday and Thursday games of this series as there is too high of a chance of rain in Denver both of those days.
- San Diego at Colorado (Friday-Sunday; all aboard for this series in Coors with lower rain chances in Denver by the end of the week)
