Brooks Koepka UNDER 70 Strokes

There is a narrative I see often that of all the majors, The Open is the one Brooks is least likely to win. I don’t understand that thinking, as he has four top ten in his last six Open starts (including the MC last year when there was something obviously wrong with his game). I think his prowess off the tee and exceptional around the green game makes him a great fit for Royal Liverpool and I am confident in a hot start for Brooksy on Thursday.

Jordan Spieth UNDER 70.5 Strokes

Death, taxes, and Jordan Spieth playing well at The Open Championship. Even when Spieth was at the lowest of his lows, he always showed up across the pond. Sure, he missed the cut last week, but I’m not worried about that as we have seen plenty of guys miss the cut at the Scottish Open and then play great the next week. Spieth is certainly erratic and presents a low floor at times, but until he proves me otherwise, I will give him the benefit of the doubt to start under par this week.

Cam Smith OVER 2.5 Bogeys

I don’t love the course fit here for the defending champion golfer of the year. His tendency to get wild off the tee makes me nervous considering all the trouble he can find himself in at Royal Liverpool. Can he get nuclear with the putter and around the green to keep him in the tournament? He absolutely can. But in a one round prop like this, I am willing to bet on what I think is the most likely scenario in which he makes enough errors to hit this over.

Xander Schauffele OVER 66.5 Strokes

I don’t have a great feel for Xander coming into this week, but I am confident he won’t be going under this number. He fired off that historic round 1 at LACC last month, followed by 3 rather meh rounds which has been the story of Xander this season. They set Rory’s line at 68.5, so I don’t understand why Shauffele is at 66.5.
