Week 9 Defenses to Start/Sit/Stream

By Arnaldo Cadena Published November 1, 2023 2 min read

“Start” These are going to be D/STs that are rostered that you shouldn’t think twice about starting.

“Sit” These are going to be the D/STs that need to be benched until next week’s evaluation.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

Start

Cleveland Browns vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals are tanking. The Browns just came off of a tough loss to the Seahawks in a game that was supposed to be theirs. This fire should carry over into the next game against a team that is trying to lose. This should be an easy start for the D/ST that averages the 12th most FPPG. The combination of 28th fewest FPPG to QBs and 29th fewest FPPG to WRs is deadly.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Ravens are D/ST3 right now. The D/ST 32nd fewest FPPG to QBs, the 27th fewest FPPG to WRs, and the 28th fewest FPPG to TEs. The Seahawks offense can be electric but they crumble when they play against elite defenses. This is an elite defense that gets to play on their home turf. Start em.

New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers

The Saints should be rostered against one of the worst teams in the league. The Saints combine the 27th fewest FPPG to QBs and the 28th fewest FPPG to RBs. This the D/ST8 on the season.

Sit

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles

This shouldn’t be a surprise. I wouldn’t start the Eagles defense either but I would prefer them over the Cowboys defense. Both of these team should be able to score more than 21+ points so I have to just stay away from this matchup.

Miami Dolphins vs. Kansas City Chiefs

This also shouldn’t be a surprise. The Chiefs just had one of their worst offensive games in a long time. This obviously doesn’t stick. They might even be the highest scoring game this week. The Dolphins best defense against the Chiefs might be their offense. I would stay away from both.

Buffalo Bills @ Cincinnati Bengals

Yet again, not another surprise. These two offenses are electric and can put up points in dozens. The Bengals looked great against a 49ers defense and I can only imagine how good they can look against the Bills. This also goes the other way. I would stay away from the Bengals.
