Bet: 2-1, +1.1u
Lean: 1-2, -1.3uMonday Night Football brings us to Minneapolis to watch the Vikings host the 49ers. These are two teams going in opposite directions. Minnesota is one of six teams in the NFL with two or fewer wins. San Francisco is one of six teams with five wins (including the Jags, who picked up their fifth win on TNF earlier this week). Both teams will be missing at least one key player, queue Justin Jefferson and Deebo Samuel as definites. There should be some fantasy production here, so let’s power through the next two paragraphs and get to the good stuff.
Main Storylines to Watch
Vikings dismal season to continue?: Last year’s 13-4 team feels so far away, where they won every one score game during the regular season. They’ve already got four losses this year, all in one score game. In fact, even their two wins have been one score games. Those have been against teams with a combined 1-11 record in the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears. Their opponent this week, the 49ers, are 5-1 and pissed off about their disappointing performance last week. As you already know, not having Justin Jefferson only makes matters worse. A loss this weekend could all but confirm another 10 weeks of looking forward to 2024.
Classic get right game for the 49ers?: They are good despite suffering a bad loss to Cleveland’s backup QB in the rain. This screams get right game to me. Despite missing one of their big weapons in Samuel and CMC questionable/limited, the 49ers have several other talented options and the scheme to overcome. Purdy has to play better. Thankfully, he’ll be playing a lesser defense in what should hopefully be better weather. The defense is one of the best in the league and should be able to take advantage of an offense who’s missing its best player and doesn’t have the depth to fill that void.
