What. A. Matchup.  This is the type of game you love to see every year. Thankfully, this one happens twice. However, this is their first time meeting this season. Justin Herbert has taken his team into Arrowhead twice in his career to best Patrick Mahomes in his own building, so we know he’s capable. Mahomes, of course, is the face of the NFL and the top QB in the league. He and the Chiefs will look to continue stacking wins despite not looking as dominant as we’ve come to expect from them. On the other sideline, the Chargers have their sights on righting the ship before things start to get ugly.

    Main Storylines to Watch

A must win for the Chargers already?: In my preview of Bengals Seahawks last week, I said I didn’t love proclaiming must win games so early. So naturally, I’m going to do it again this week. Yes, this team has the talent to climb out of most any hole, but do they have the coaching staff? a 2-4 start might doom a Chargers squad who find ways to lose games. Looking at the other teams (and quarterbacks) in the AFC, it could get late early if the Chargers drop this one, especially considering its a division game. Coach Brandon Staley’s name has been a hot topic in terms of his job security. A win this week might quiet the noise a bit, even if just for another week. With a loss, the chatter will grow louder.

Will Rashee Rice continue to trend towards being the WR1 in KC?: Rice has garnered at least five targets in four of six games. Last week he had four. The Chiefs look to be making an effort to get him more involved. He leads the room in every major receiving category. Mahomes was able to make it work with subpar WR talent last season after Tyreek Hill was traded to the Dolphins during the offseason. TE Travis Kelce remains the focal point of the passing game, but having a legitimate go-to wide out can make things even easier for Mahomes. Rice will once again try to make his case to be that guy.
