Want to know where your starting QB might wind up by week’s end? Here’s our guess as to where the QB ranks will shake out when the dust settles on Monday. We hope you’ll use this to determine who to start and who to sit, but also to try to determine if you’re favored at each position in your weekly matchup.
Projected Finish Name Team Notes QB1 Tua Tagovailoa MIA The Commanders defense has been very susceptible to opposing QBs and the dolphins are great at stomping bad teams. As long as Mostert does not score every single TD, Tua is locked in for a monster week. QB2 Dak Prescott DAL Dak has quietly been the best QB in football since Week 6 and the Cowboys should have the Seahawks outmatched on TNF. Seattle's secondary has some ballers but it should not be enough to stop Dak from a big game. QB3 Jalen Hurts PHI Hurts is locked into lineups every week. Even when the offense has been "struggling" by their standards, Hurts has been turning in massive fantasy lines. The 49ers are a tough matchup but I am unmoved. QB4 Trevor Lawrence JAC Lawrence has put together two staight awesome weeks and is peaking at a great time for the Jaguars to push for the top seed in the AFC. Cincinnati will struggle to control the football with Browning starting. QB5 Patrick Mahomes KC The Packers are an interesting defense and have been just better than average against the pass this year. They have not faced Mahomes yet, though and an average pass rush is not going to deter him from a big game. Monitor the weather in this matchup, just in case. QB6 C.J. Stroud HOU The Broncos defense deserves a ton of respect, but Stroud has been unbothered in just about every game of his young career. The time for doubting him is over and although I think the Broncos have a great chance to win this game, Stroud should still execute. QB7 Brock Purdy SF The Eagles defense is good at limiting what the 49ers like to do, rack up yards after the catch. Purdy still has a plethora of weapons that seem to be about as healthy as anyone is in Week 13 and they will be out for blood after last year's playoff loss. QB8 Sam Howell WAS Howell should be down by a lot to Miami throughout this game. The Dolphins defense is banged up at the moment and Howell has been eating through high volume passing. He should be a safe bet even if he turns the ball over a few times. QB9 Russell Wilson DEN Wilson has been solid for fantasy despite lower yardage totals than the top QBs. He is playing like his old Seattle self and the Broncos are on a roll. Wilson will face a weak pass defense that just allowed Trevor Lawrence to eat. QB10 Justin Herbert LAC The days of fearing the Patriots seem to be over. They seem content to struggle through the rest of the season and take a strong draft pick. The Chargers need to win most weeks here on out to make the playoffs and I think Herbert will begin to show why he is regarded as one of the top young QBs. QB11 Kyler Murray ARI The Steelers have been a perplexing matchup, but Kyler is pretty safe with his rushing upside. He has three straight games with a rushing TD and his elusiveness could match up well agaisnt the pass rush of Pittsburgh. QB12 Gardner Minshew IND The Titans have been a great matchup to stream into as their defense falters most of the time. Minshew has been an interesting fantasy player with ups and downs, but he looks good and loves slinging the rock, which is great for fantasy. QB13 Jared Goff DET Goff seems due for a bounce back, but the Saints are a hard matchup to count on for that. Thankfully, the Saints offense is atrocious and Goff should have plenty of opportunities to make things happen so long as he stops fumbling. QB14 Jordan Love GB Love had probably his best week of the year against Detroit on Thanksgiving, but I am still not sold on him from and NFL standpoint. The KC defense has been underrated this year and could pose a tough matchup for the young Cheesehead. QB15 Baker Mayfield TB The Buccaneers desparately need a win here to keep up with the rest of the NFC South. Actually, maybe they do not because seven wins is probably enough to win the whole thing, but the point stands that they need to keep pace and the Panthers have been the league's punching bag all year. QB16 Kenny Pickett PIT As promised, the Steelers offense took a step forward after the firing of Matt Canada, but Pickett still has an aversion to the end zone. The Cardinals defense is very weak and Pickett has a chance to dominate. QB17 Matthew Stafford LAR Fitting, that after I brought up last week that Stafford only had one game with more than a single TD he comes out to throw four. This week, he will not have the luxury of playing against the Cardinals defense, but the Browns have been in a rut lately and are not the same defense that was atop the league earlier in the season. QB18 Geno Smith SEA The Seattle offense has been putrid for quite some time now and expectations need to be low for this one. TNF against a stellar defense is not a sought after matchup, but Pete Carroll's teams tend to shine the brightest with their backs against the wall. QB19 Derek Carr NO I have always been low on Carr and he keeps proving why this year. The Saints offense seems lost and if Chris Olave is unable to clear concussion protocol, they are in deep trouble against the Lions. QB20 Will Levis TEN The rookie has been pretty hit or miss with six passing TDs over the course of two games and none in his other three. His yardage totals have been lackluster as well and this week should not be super different. QB21 Bryce Young CAR It has been tough sledding for Bryce, but perhaps the firing of Frank Reich can inspire the Panthers to play...differently? I have low expectations for the rookie, but he was set up for failure with the lack of weapons around him. QB22 Jake Browning CIN While his UW Huskies are ranked third, Browning is a far cry from that on our QB rankings. He managed to put together his best fantasy performance last week, but it still was not awesome and likely never will be. The Jacksonville pass rush should give him trouble. QB23 P.J. Walker CLE Dorian Thompson-Robinson is currently in concussion protocol, setting up Walker for another start in the QB carousel. Although the Rams are on a little win streak, they have not been lights out for fantasy purposes and Walker might find a solid baseline here. QB24 Bailey Zappe NE What the Patriots are doing at QB is good for nothing but their draft pick, and these guys need to be avoided whenever possible. Right now, Zappe is taking first team reps in practice with Malik Cunningham behind him, so they may have finally seen enough from Mac Jones. At least the Chargers are a plus matchup! QB25 Desmond Ridder ATL The Jets defense has been elite at limiting QBs and Ridder has shown little to no promise this year. Despite a few great weeks, let us not forget Ridder was benched for Taylor Heinicke earlier in the season. I do not trust the Falcons offense in this game. QB26 Tim Boyle NYJ Boyle was about as rough as we all expected against the Dolphins, but who could have seen the Hail-Mary-Pick-Six coming just before halftime? We know the Jets strength is defense and not QB so avoid playing him. QB27 Dorian Thompson-Robinson CLE If he is able to clear concussion protocol, he ranks similarly to where I have P.J. Walker now. The rookie QB has to have a good day rushing to be worth a start and Aaron Donald is not going to allow anything up the middle. QB28 Mac Jones NE In case anybody is wondering, Mac should not be played even if the Patriots switch up and end up starting him anyway. The risk of him not playing a full game is too high and even a weak Chargers defense should not have a hard time with the Patriots offense.
