MLB Two-Start Pitchers – Week of September 4th

  • Cole Ragans

We’ll look into the slate of two-start pitchers who are under 70% rostered each week and make some suggestions that are hopefully available on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball roster.

This week, we have a decent, and hopefully available, slate of two-start pitchers with some good matchups. Just be sure to check with FanGraphs’ Probables Grid, as teams have been shuffling rotations daily.

    The Main Plays

Cole Ragans LHP (KCR) – CHW, @TOR

    Yahoo 67%, ESPN 32%
This may be your last chance to jump aboard the Cole Ragans hype train! Not that he doesn’t deserve the recent attention. The lefty has dazzled in seven starts since joining the Royals rotation with a 1.73 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. He has posted a 33.9 percent strikeout rate and a 27.3 percent K-BB rate, leading to a 3-1 record and five quality starts.

Ragans will face off against the White Sox and Blue Jays this week. Chicago continues the season-long struggle at the plate, with the 20th-ranked .310 wOBA and 24.6 percent strikeout rate versus left-handers. The Jays offense continues to underwhelm preseason expectations. While they boast the seventh-best wOBA (.340) against lefties, as soon as runners get into scoring position, they drop to 14th overall at .328 (and these numbers have been buoyed by their recent series at Coors Field).
