MLB Two-Start Pitchers – Week of September 11th

  • Hyun Jin Ryu

We’ll look into the slate of two-start pitchers who are under 70% rostered each week and make some suggestions that are hopefully available on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball roster.

Here are your two-start pitchers for the week for your playoff matchups. Just be sure to check with FanGraphs’ Probables Grid and the MLB Probable Pitchers, as teams have been shuffling rotations daily, or what seems like hourly sometimes.

    The Main Plays

Hyun Jin Ryu LHP (TOR) – TEX, BOS

    Yahoo 63%, ESPN 24%
Hyun Jin Ryu has been consistent since returning from the IL, going five innings in six of seven starts. He has posted a 2.65 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, not allowing more than two runs to score in any outing since his season debut. He even tossed three shutout performances in a row at one point. Quality starts may not be in the cards for the veteran lefty, as the Blue Jays don’t seem to want to push his surgically repaired elbow, at least not just yet.

Lining up against Texas and Boston this week, Ryu gets a couple of teams that have hit the skids at the plate recently. So far this month, the Rangers have the 13th overall wOBA at .335, while the Red Sox come in at 19th with a .318 wOBA. As a bonus, Boston hasn’t handled left-handed pitching on the road well this season, with the ninth-lowest wOBA at .301 and an 89 wRC+.
