MLB Two-Start Pitchers – Week of August 14th

  • Nick Pivetta

We’ll look into the slate of two-start pitchers who are under 70% rostered each week and make some suggestions that are hopefully available on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball roster.

It’s quite an intriguing slate of available two-start pitchers, so there should be lots of options if you need to bolster your pitching volume and stats this week.

As Nick Pivetta bounces between the bullpen and rotation, it looks like the Red Sox are finally going to let him settle in as a starter … phew! He has gotten the job done in his two recent starts with a 7 1/3 inning, 10-strikeout performance against the Mariners, followed by a five-inning, eight-strikeout game versus the Royals. He did give up some uncharacteristic hard contact to the Royals, so that’s something to keep an eye on, but I’m still okay starting him for the two matchups against the Nationals and Yankees this week.

Both Washington and New York have struggled at home versus right-handers this season. The Nationals come in with a 24th-ranked .306 wOBA and 89 wRC+, while the Bronx Bombers have the fifth-worst wOBA at .304. The Yankees can still hit home runs, with the fourth-most long balls at home when facing right-handers since the beginning of July, but that’s about it, as they have struggled to a .217 batting average and a bottom-third .693 OPS.
