We’ll look into the slate of two-start pitchers each week and make some suggestions to fill out your fantasy baseball roster.
Of the widely available pitchers, there are some good options this week. We also have a few matchups you can look at if you’re desperate for volume or are looking to add to your points league rosters. As always, there’s also a bunch of two-starts to avoid altogether.
The Main Plays
Taj Bradley RHP (TBR) – HOU, @CHW
Yahoo 67%, ESPN 27%
Despite the tough-looking matchup with Houston, this is a play to make. Taj Bradley looks like the real deal, so far anyway. In his two wins, he has recorded 17 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings, with a 2.61 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Plus, he plays for the juggernaut Rays, so run support shouldn’t be a problem. While Houston will be a good test, the Astros and White Sox are both in the bottom half of the league in wOBA versus righties, at 18th and 17th, respectively.
Johan Oviedo RHP (PIT) – LAD, @WSN
Yahoo 57%, ESPN 29%
So I think I’m fully onboard the Johan Oviedo train now. He has been trending in the right direction over the past few seasons both in his surface and under-the-hood stats. He has recorded three quality starts in a row, only surrendering two runs over that stretch, with 21 punch-outs in 19 2/3 innings. He has the Dodgers at home, and if you’re going to put someone up against the Dodgers, now is the time to do it. They have been riding the struggle bus over the past week with a .192 average and a .278 wOBA.
And the Nationals are … well, the Nationals.
