The All Star break is over and teams were back in action last night, so lets take a look at a few players who can help you out over the 2nd half of the MLB season.
Tarik Skubal (53% Yahoo)
Skubal missed the first three months of the season rehabbing after surgery to fix a torn flexor tendon, but has now made two starts, both 4 innings of shutout baseball. He struck out 11 while only allowing 4 total base runners. His first start was against Oakland, okay, but his second was against the very good Blue Jays offense. And now, coming out of the All Star break, he is lined up to make his 3rd start against the abysmal Royals. Skubal was once a highly heralded prospect and proved in 2022, before his injury, that things were beginning to come together. So, there is talent and prior production to support his dominance so far. I am picking Skubal up in every league I am in (even shallow ones, if your pitching is hurting), at the very least for his next start, against Kansas City. He may not win a bunch of games with the Tigers offense behind him, but a K/9 near 10, 3 strikeouts for every walk and a low 3s (or better) ERA will play in all formats.
