MLB Pickups of the Day for April 5th

  • TJ Friedl

Happy Wednesday! Let’s take a look at some of last night’s action and see who you might be able to find on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball rosters.

    TJ Friedl OF, Cincinnati Reds
    TJ Friedl
is someone to keep an eye on in Cincinnati. He’s started in all five of the Reds’ games so far. After starting the year 0-for-7, the outfielder (with eligibility at all three outfield positions in Yahoo) has since gone 6-for-10 including his second home run last night. He’s widely available in both Yahoo (9%) and ESPN (2%) so could be an option if you’re in a deeper league, or have a five-outfielder roster to fill.

    Nico Hoerner SS(2B), Chicago Cubs
After a 3-for-6 night with three runs scored yesterday, Nico Hoerner is hitting .300/.300/.400 on the season so far. With Dansby Swanson taking over short for the Cubs, Hoerner has moved to second base, and with five starts there should be picking up eligibility in most formats soon if he hasn’t already. He can do a little bit of everything but will provide more speed and average than power. He has led off every game this season for the Cubbies, so should rack up plenty of runs. At 78% rostered on Yahoo and 48% on ESPN, it’s worth checking the waiver wire.
