Mookie Betts OVER 0.5 Total Bases

Even though we don’t know what pitching/hitting matchups we’ll be getting over the course of the game, we know that Gerrit Cole will be starting the first inning for the AL squad. Mookie is set to hit third in the NL lineup and has hit .429 against Cole in his career over 14 at-bats. Cole gets the honor of starting his first All-Star Game, but he has looked unconvincing at times this season.

Gerrit Cole OVER 0.5 Hits Allowed

This pairs pretty nicely with the Mookie pick as this is a matchup we are guaranteed. You’re essentially taking exact result of this 1st inning matchup at +200 odds. There is a chance Mookie sees a second at-bat, but Cole would most likely have to give up a hit in the first inning. Cole has given up 25 total bases in 78 1st inning PAs.

Luis Castillo + Kodai Senga OVER 2.5 Pitcher Strikeouts (Combo)

If any pitcher will be getting more than one inning of work, it will most likely be the hometown ace in Luis Castillo. He has more than twice as many strikeouts at home (80) vs. on the road (37) this year. He has more innings pitched at home as well, but he should be ready to give the hometown fans something to cheer about. Kodai Senga just has ridiculous wipeout stuff and is coming off one of his best performances of the year, striking out 12 batters in Arizona over eight innings.

    Underdog Fantasy

Nathan Eovaldi UNDER 97.4 Fastest Pitch

Eovaldi has had an excellent season and deserves to be at the All-Star Game. He has thrown 455 pitches this season since April 1st. Only nine of those 455 have had a velocity over 97.4 mph. He’s not necessarily known for throwing heat, ranking in the 59th percentile in fastball velocity per baseball savant.

Corbin Carroll OVER 4.5 Fantasy Points

I would think Phillies and NL manager, Rob Thomson, understands the significance for Corbin Carroll to start his first All-Star Game in his hometown. Maybe Thomson will let the rookie get a few cracks at it, given the circumstances. Carroll went to high school 15 minutes away from the Stadium and it will surely be a special moment for him. Beyond that, Carroll has been one of the best players in the league this year and I will take him to make something happen.

Felix Bautista UNDER 103.0 Fastest Pitch

There’s no doubt Felix Bautista is the most dominant closer in the league through this point in the season. He will definitely be fired up, but he has only thrown one pitch this whole season that was above 102.9 mph. He has only thrown five pitches that have registered a speed over 101.9 mph out of 165 total pitches thrown this year.
