As a fantasy baseball manager, I’m always looking to maximize my roster in any way possible. Two of the oldest but sometimes misused tactics are buying low on players who are underperforming and selling high on players that are expected to regress in some capacity. This season I have been crushing it, suggesting buy lows on Justin Verlander and Nathan Eovaldi before his heater, while also recommending sell highs on James Outman and Patrick Wisdom. With that, I’m going to get into 3 guys that you should target as buy-low candidates and 3 guys you should look to trade based on their inflated value. A few names I might’ve mentioned on my Twitter (@Andrew_FBB) so you can check them out over there as well!
Undervalued Players to Buy
Giancarlo Stanton
Big G has had a tough time getting in a groove so far this season due to injuries. He is hitting .254 with 5 home runs and 12 RBI through just 66 at-bats. He hasn’t returned much value to owners this far into the season, thus lowering his value. Stanton has been a premier power threat every year of his career and can be had at a discount right now. A few encouraging things we have in his small sample size are his career-low K-rate (22.7%), .279 xBA, and average exit velocity at 96.6 MPH which would be second in the MLB right behind teammate Aaron Judge. The final sell is that as we have seen, when Giancarlo gets hot he’s a force to be reckoned with. The price you will have to pay for him right now is very much worth it.
