2023 was the year of power at the catcher position, with 11 catcher-eligible players hitting 20 or more home runs, the most in a single (fantasy) season ever. Though it is a notoriously shallow position, a smattering of younger catchers promises a bright future behind the plate. Francisco Alvarez, Yainer Diaz, Bo Naylor, Logan O’Hoppe, and Gabriel Moreno were given extended runs, Henry Davis, Endy Rodriguez, and Tyler Soderstrom were given cups of coffee, while Adley Rutschman, Cal Raleigh, Keibert Ruiz and Shea Langeliers all had successful sophomore seasons. Add in William Contreras, Alejandro Kirk, Luis Campusano, Tyler Stephenson, and Ryan Jeffers, and there is a deep well of talented catchers who are all 27 years or younger. No longer a barren wasteland, catcher is starting to overflow with viable dynasty options.
