Titans @ Bills

Key Storylines/What to Watch

Tied for the biggest projected blowout of the week, the Titans face a steep hill to avoid starting the year 0-2 against arguably the best looking team in the league after one week. While still missing Tre’Davious White until Week 5 at the earliest, the Bills secondary was still able to post PFF’s 9th-best coverage grade of Week 1. Look for Titans OC Todd Downing to pound the rock with Derrick Henry and try to rectify a pair of questionable 3rd & 1 play calls in their first game.

Bills DT Ed Oliver missed practice Thursday after injuring his ankle in the Rams game. Buffalo is fortunately not dealing with any other injuries on its defensive line, so even if Oliver misses the game, the Bills D/ST should be in for a strong game against an O-line that gave up 11 pressures to the Giants.

It’s already expected the Bills will air it out early and often, but that game plan looks even juicier with the likelihood of Titans CB Kristian Fulton missing back-to-back practices as of Friday with a hamstring ailment. It would thrust former first-round pick CB Caleb Farley further into the fire of defending one of the emerging best wideout duos in the entire league.

The Titans have a couple of key offensive players participating in little-to-no practice as of Friday in RB Dontrell Hilliard (no practice with hamstring injury) and WR Kyle Philips (limited with shoulder issue). Hilliard played a key backup RB role with 69 all-purpose yards and two scores, while Philips has emerged as a cheap PPR asset while drawing a team-high nine targets. If Hilliard misses the game, expect Henry to get the lion’s share of touches in a game he’ll likely get decent passing game work if they get down early as expected.
