2023 MLB: Upside Prospects

  • It always feels great to grab the player who is on the trajectory to become a transcendent talent in the MLB at age 18-19. But every year we find ourselves enamored by prospects that break onto the MLB scene and find immediate success in year 1. Although I don’t see a Julio Rodriguez type this year, there are 5 guys who can make an impact in 2023. Some prospects might be obvious, and some maybe not so much; Don’t overthink it!

    Corbin Carroll – OF Diamondbacks

Carroll got his first taste of the big leagues during September call-ups and didn’t exactly light the league on fire but definitely showed some bright spots. He put up a .260 BA with four HRs and two SBs through 115 plate appearances. He only stands at 5’10”, but he packed a punch while slugging 23 homers in just over 100 games across two levels in the minors last year. He exudes incredible speed sitting in the 100th percentile in sprint speed if his health can stay consistent, which is something that has been challenging to him. If his health holds, I think his impact will be considerable.
