• How’d We Get Here?

The Nets were declared winners of last offseason (or at least co-winners with Steve Ballmer) even though Kevin Durant would spend the year on the shelf. Unfortunately, they also got just 20 games out of Kyrie Irving, leaving the season up to the holdovers from the team’s previous core. That wasn’t exactly a bad thing with Brooklyn always setting its sights on 2020 and beyond, but the Nets certainly failed to come close to heightened expectations and will now have to work on integrating two superstars on and off the court — it’s already cost them a solid coach. We’ll see how first-time coach Steve Nash handles the egos and expectations.
