With another year of basketball almost upon us, it’s a good time to recognize the players that will see new opportunities coming their way. This could be both good and bad, with some players being more fortunate than others. However these situations fall, we’re here to help fantasy managers approach how to utilize the changes in minutes and usage to their advantage. Whether it’s hard-fading a player or grabbing them earlier than their ADP suggests, we’ve got you covered. Let’s dive in.
No Longer the Big Man on Campus
It was somewhat of a roller coaster of a 2025-26 season for Alex Sarr, a player that showed improvement but fell victim to injuries and tanking shenanigans. With the tanking reform now in place, Sarr should be able to play freely, but things are now heavily muddled with three new names joining the fray.
It is safe to say that with the team healthy, Sarr will be the fourth option on some nights. There’s only so much usage that can go around, and of course the Washington Wizards will want their second-most recent No. 1 draft pick to develop properly. Sarr had a 24.9% usage last season, averaging 13.7 FGA a game. Seeing that drop to around 11.5 FGA wouldn’t be farfetched, also followed by a drop in other stats across the board. You would like to bank on a FG% increase here, but having Anthony Davis around will require Sarr to help space the floor more, and his 33% 3PT shooting is formidable for a center but doesn’t scream efficiency. Luckily, the blocks should still be plentiful even with Davis around, serving as a strong help-side defender. Sarr’s value will most likely drop to the top-80 range, but with Davis’ injury history, the upside for Sarr is always one knock away.
