On a relatively heavy slate of games for a Thursday, there are three pick ups for you today, including a slow-starting prospect, a forgotten fantasy star heating up after return from injury, and a superstar that may be hiding on your waiver wire.
Carlos Correa – SS – MIN – 64% ESPN
While including Carlos Correa in a waiver wire pickups article may seem absurd at first sight, Correa is somehow only owned in 64% of ESPN leagues. That number should be 99% given hisproduction as of late and for the year as a whole, not to mention his name value. After posting career lows in many offensive categories last season, with many attributing his struggles to the leg injury that cost him contracts with the Giants and Mets, Correa has been back to his scintillating best this season, posting a 147WRC+ thus far. All signs point to this being sustainable (check out the beautiful sea of red that is his Baseball Savant page), and while he won’t challenge the top tier of SS due to his lack of stolen bases, his bat can be just as good, and he should be treated as an easy top eight option at the position.
League size recommendation: All leagues
