    The New York Jets (4-3) will host their fellow AFC wildcard hopefuls in the Los Angeles Chargers (3-4) in the Week 9 primetime Monday night matchup. The Jets are coming off an ugly low-scoring overtime win over the Giants. The Chargers handled business against the Bears in the Sunday night matchup of Week 8. This game could prove to be very important when it comes to the AFC wildcard playoff race at the end of the season.

    Main Storylines to Watch

    Will the Jets be able to put up enough points to come out victorious? The Jets have an elite defense. No one questions that. The Jets offense has been below average at best. This Jets defense has stifled top offenses in the past and this Chargers offense will be a similar test. Can the Jets score over 20 points to pull out the victory? If so, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall will need big games to help Zach Wilson and this offense.

    Can the Chargers stay relevant in the AFC playoff race? There are plenty of rumors out there about Chargers head coach Brandon Staley’s job security. If the Chargers can beat the Jets to return to .500 on the season, they will be right in the middle of the playoff race. If they drop to 3-5 and give up a good amount of points to this below-average Jets offense, the defensive “mastermind” head coach Brandon Staley might be looking for a new job.
