Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 2

  • Let’s take a look at the top waiver wire pickups ahead of Week 2 of the NFL season.

Carson Wentz (QB) – Washington Commanders

This one is for all the Dak Prescott fantasy GMs out there. Wentz is a great streaming option to grab off waivers after putting together a very strong Week 1 performance against the Jags. He roasted the Jags defense for 313 yards and four touchdowns and will be rewarded with a Lions defense that just gave up 330 combined yards to Jalen Hurts in Week 1. He showed the ability to hit the deep ball, connecting with Terry McLaurin for a 49-yard touchdown, and was not afraid to check the ball down to Antonio Gibson eight times.

Jameis Winston (QB) – New Orleans Saints

Winston looked impressive in the season opener against the Falcons. He seemed to also persuade Michael Thomas into playing some high-quality football. Winston completed 23 of 34 attempts for 269 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to Thomas. Jameis gets the Bucs, Panthers and Vikings in his next three games, which all are decent opportunities to shine. Before the injury last season, he showed the ability to frequently finish as a weekly QB1 and he should be viewed in that fashion for this season, until he proves otherwise. The Saints offense looked powerful, so Winston likely needs to be rostered in every league.
