Gary PaytonPG, Washington WizardsGary Payton rode a short run of production in December to top-275 per-game fantasy value.
Payton played just 29 games with the Wizards but made 17 starts, and in 14.9 mpg he was able to average 3.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.2 blocks and 0.4 3-pointers. He was a flash in the pan on the fantasy radar but did help a few GMs out: On December 23 he posted 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and six steals. Anyone who scooped him after that initial outburst was rewarded with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers in his next game and then 15 points and another six steals in the game after that. Payton would have a few more games with gaudy steal numbers through the new year but essentially fell out of the rotation following the All-Star break. At least we know he's got one bankable skill when the minutes are there.
