Risers & Fallers: Corner Infielders

  • Two weeks ago, we discussed middle infielders and their fantasy values going forward, in dynasty and re-draft leagues. This week, we will be going over corner infielders and their dynasty and re-draft values. Unlike shortstop, neither third base nor first base is super deep with tons of young talent, but there is one player who is head and shoulders better than anyone else at a corner infielder position.

Jose Ramirez leads the way for both third baseman and corner infielders in general, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the top first baseman for dynasty leagues, but Freddie Freeman is probably still the top choice for re-draft leagues, but after these three, it definitely can get muddy. Where do Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Pete Alonso, Christian Walker, newly-crowned third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., Rafael Devers and others fall, both amongst their positions and corner infielders in general? Who are the next young studs? Who has fallen off? Who no longer has corner infield eligiblity? Which of the older stars has started to fall off?

    RISERS

Jose Ramirez is essentially on a planet of his own when it comes to both third base and corner infielders in general. He’s been an elite player since 2017 and is not slowing down. Since that 2017 season, Ramirez has hit at least 23 home runs, stolen 17 bases, scored 68 runs and driven in 83 (three of those are from the season he only played in 129 games due to injuries). Over his last four season (including the 2024 season), he has averaged 98 runs, 36 doubles, 31 home runs, 104 RBI and 28 stolen bases. And he has an outside shot for his first 40/40 season this season, though he needs a bit of a power run to make that happen. Ramirez is a first round player in any mode and the best of the best of the corner infielders.
