Fantasy Playoff Matchups vs Top 10 Overall Defenses From 2023

  • Today we are going to continue our fantasy football playoff week series by highlighting teams who have the most and fewest games against top-10 total defenses from 2023. The disclaimer here is things change from year to year, a team that was in the top last year could flame out, a team that was in the bottom could rise. However, there have been certain defenses in recent years that have held steady both good and bad. There are a lot of teams that have matchups with two top-10 total defenses from the prior year, there are a number of teams who don’t see a top-10 defense in the playoffs, but for the sake of the exercise, we are just going to highlight the most fantasy relevant ones.

Houston Texans: Matchups vs Top 10 Overall Defenses: 3

I have mentioned this in a previous piece but ugh, a fun offense getting the ultimate litmus test at the most important time of the year in fantasy football. There is a lot working against the Texans here, and not only just the quality of opponents but the scheduling. The NFL has now decided they’ll do games on Christmas after last year’s smashing success, so that means we’re getting Wednesday games this year, and the Texans are a part of it as they’ll take on the Ravens Christmas Day. The good news is that game is at home and in a dome stadium. Prior to that they’ll play the Dolphins at home, followed by a short week and a trip to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs, whose defense historically has turned it up a notch by this time of the season. There could be some holes with the Dolphins for the Texans to exploit but after that, Weeks 16 and 17 could be a lot of sits for Texans players.
