The late-season fantasy board is doing what it always does this time of year: shrinking in some places, exploding in others, and forcing managers to read between the lines instead of just reading the injury report.
Dillon Brooks being ready to return tonight gives Phoenix another real body and likely tightens up some of the fringe streaming appeal there, while Jaden McDaniels landing in the week-to-week bucket with patella tendinopathy and a bone bruise is the kind of quietly important development that can create usable fantasy fallout in Minnesota. In Toronto, Immanuel Quickley remains out with plantar fasciitis, which keeps the Raptorsโ backcourt minutes and touches in flux, and in Orlando the short-term picture stays crowded with absences as Anthony Black is out again and Franz Wagner remains sidelined, even if the underlying news on Wagner sounds a little more encouraging than the official tag suggests.
Thatโs the tension point this time of year, the official designation matters, but the context matters more. Franz being out tonight matters for the immediate streamer board, but hearing that heโs progressing well, getting through physical games, and playing 5-on-5 is the kind of note that tells you Orlandoโs fringe value could dry up quickly. The same goes for Phoenix, where Brooksโ return could quietly close off some temporary opportunity before it fully blooms. Thatโs the game now: not just chasing whoโs out, but anticipating whoโs about to come back and which windows are about to slam shut. In this edition of the cheat sheet, weโll dig into the most interesting names on the waiver wire, the best streamers for tonight, and the storylines that actually matter before lineups lock.
Top Pickups
This is the “general must-add” section regardless of the slate. If these players are being overlooked and remain chilling on the waiver wire, consider adding them to your squad.
Ayo Dosunmu (31%)
Even with Anthony Edwards back in the lineup, Ayo Dosunmu still delivered a monster line with 18 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, 3 steals, and 1 three-pointer in 33:15. Thatโs obviously well above even a realistic best-case outcome, so nobody should be chasing the exact box score, but the bigger takeaway is that the role and opportunity are still strong enough to matter.
Itโs also worth remembering that Dosunmu is running hot from the field right now, and weโve seen before that he can cool off in a hurry. Still, when a player is getting 33-plus minutes and stuffing enough categories to survive some shooting regression, thatโs someone who belongs on fantasy rosters. If heโs still available on your waiver wire, heโs worth adding, and if you already have him, this is a clear hold.
