• We have survived the marathon of another NBA regular season for fantasy basketball. The must-know details for Sunday were provided to us by the NBA, so let us break it down.

Before we do that, this is a free sample for everyone to read. This article is a little different for the regular-season finale, but throughout the actual season, you can look forward to:

    • Top Pickups: Players breaking out or benefitting from absences who simply “belong on fantasy rosters.”
    • Slate Notes & Back-to-Backs: This provides you with a bit of knowledge of teams who are playing on the slate and yet to submit an injury report for the day — since teams on the second leg of a back-to-back submit later than everyone else — and some future preparation for the next day as some teams on the first night of a back-to-back may sit guys or have players returning the next day.
    • Top Stories to Watch: Useful intel to help your decision-making or just something fun to know.
    • Streamers: Your short-term adds to help you win specific categories.

The Lakers and Nuggets are fighting for the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds in the West, but the Nuggets might not care.

The Blazers and Clippers will be fighting for the No. 8 seed in the West and that drastically impacts the Play-In picture since the No. 8 seed gets two cracks at getting in. The Blazers are in the driver’s seat after beating the Clippers on Friday, so they just need to win on Sunday to clinch.

The Hawks have secured an automatic spot in the playoffs, but they could still drop to No. 6 and they may prefer to face the Cavs (No. 4) rather than the Knicks (No. 3), so they may be looking to clinch with a win.

The No. 6 to No. 8 seeds in the East are still undetermined between the Raptors, Magic and Sixers. No. 6 gets an automatic playoff spot, while the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds need to fight it out in the Play-In Tournament.

The results for the Hornets and Heat matter because they could determine who hosts the No. 9 vs. No. 10 Play-In game in the East.

So I would separate the groups into this:

High-Priority Stakes: Raptors, Magic, Sixers, Blazers, Clippers
Low-Priority Stakes: Nuggets, Lakers, Hawks, Hornets, Heat
    Everyone Else: Nothing but pride

Home-court advantage and “determining your opponent” are important, but the teams with more significant seeding implications that determine their path into the playoffs should have the highest sense of urgency and intensity.

Here is every possible scenario broken down by the NBA, but this is a little less important for fantasy than just knowing “who has something to play for.”

    Top Dynasty Offseason Pickups

If you are not in a dynasty league, skip ahead to the sections pertinent to Sunday’s games.ย

Since this is the end of the 2025-26 regular season, I am going to try doing something different here. I am going to try suggesting a few players to “give a chance to” that you can hold during the NBA offseason and try to observe their roles during the 2026-27 preseason and beyond.

Most dynasty leagues should roster at least 350 players, so some of these names should already be rostered, but some may not be.

    General List

I am mainly going to focus on players who were not a large part of a rotation throughout the entire season, with maybe some minor exceptions of players whose roles were quite up and down.

Quick mentions, who are already likely rostered: Daniss Jenkins, Leonard Miller, Ousmane Dieng, Tristan Vukcevic, Justin Champagnie.

    • Tidjane Salaun: Solid flashes of a decent rotation player who can offer points, threes and rebounds.
    • Julian Strawther: flashed a little more consistency this season and might have a low-end rotation role as a floor-spacer in the future.
    • Ron Harper Jr.: The Celtics like him and he shows hints of low-end 3-and-D upside. Maybe a 20-minute bench player in the future.
    • Cormac Ryan: I honestly haven’t actually gotten eyes on him, but from the box score alone, his 3-point shooting appears to be legit. Maybe that earns him a role.
    • Pete Nance: Again, I haven’t watched the late-season Bucks, but with a potential rebuild coming, Nance might at least stick in a low-end bench role.
    • Terrence Shannon Jr.: He still has promise as a possible microwave scorer and sixth man with the physical tools to become a useful defender if he locks in. We have seen it in the past two games.
    • Nikola Topic: High-end draft talent whose career has been muted by the ACL tear and cancer diagnosis. This screams of a guy who “finally takes off” in his fourth or fifth year once he has gotten to play and settle in.ย
    • Justin Edwards: Flashes of 3-and-D upside but the 3-point shot still seems to be inconsistent.
    • Adem Bona: Moves way better than the average big man with foot speed and leaping ability. He fouls too much and may be a smidge undersized, but if he figures out how to use his gifts, he is a legit high-end backup center. My inclusion of Bona might be Sixers fan bias, maybe, since he doesn’t technically fit my criteria.
    • Elijah Harkless: I think Harkless could be more than a guy for “silly season.” He looks like a real switchable NBA defender and the main question is: “Can he do offense consistently?” In a game vs. the Nuggets, he had good moments guarding Jamal Murray at the point-of-attack and Nikola Jokic, yes, Jokic in the post.
    • Daeqwon Plowden: This might just be a flash in the pan for silly season, but maybe he has a future bench role as a floor-spacer. He impressed in Summer League for the Warriors before as well.
    • Josh Minott: Minott is a real NBA defender and energy guy. He also has the “can he do offense” question lingering, but I think that if he stays in Brooklyn, head coach Jordi Fernandez is creative enough to make it work.
    • Jaylin Williams: Williams is such a versatile big and he could likely start for a few teams. I think he is best suited as a high-end backup (basically, a guy who you feel comfortable filling in for the starter often). It is a shame that he is the third big in Oklahoma City.
    2025 Rookie Class

In any legit 300-plus or 350-plus player dynasty league, these 2025 rookies should be on a roster.

This is mainly a list of rookies who might be overlooked. There are obviously higher-end rookies out there. Aside from the Rookie of the Year contenders, I feel like we saw enough of Nolan Traore, Ben Saraf, Kobe Sanders, Javon Small, Will Richard and Dylan Cardwell for me to exclude them from the list as players who could be overlooked.

This is mainly for rookies who did not play much.

    • Khaman Maluach: Legit big-man stats upside
    • Noa Essengue: I am not the biggest fan, but he has the sort-of-3-and-D build (if he learns to shoot) and sort-of-small-ball-center build on a currently small Bulls roster.
    • Carter Bryant: Should be awesome for defensive stats and elite defensive upside. Just needs to hit shots.
    • Thomas Sorber: Versatile big man who may be the Thunder’s long-term Isaiah Hartenstein replacement after he (Sorber) recovers from the ACL injury.
    • Joan Beringer: Racks up big-man stats easily and getting to “study” under an all-time great defensive big in Rudy Gobert, who may eventually “age out of the way.”
    • Kasparas Jakucionis: Flashed value in points, threes, assists, rebounds and maybe even steals, while the Heat are trying to make him into a point-of-attack defender.
    • Asa Newell: Looks good whenever he plays. A PF-small center hybrid who might rack up double-doubles, defensive stats and hit threes. I strongly believe he is a future rotation player.
    • Jase Richardson: Connective guard potential.
    • Hugo Gonzalez: Off-the-chart motor, defensive potential and just needs to work out the offense. Initially projected as a do-it-all role player coming into the NBA.
    • Yanic Konan Niederhauser: Very athletic for a center. Brook Lopez is old and Isaiah Jackson likely just isn’t a starting-caliber NBA center. I was not a fan of Niederhauser pre-draft, but if he can figure out the mental side, he will be a fantay-friendly big.
    • Rasheer Fleming: Strong potential to rack up steals and blocks with rebounds and just needs to be a consistent 3-point shooter and play-finisher.
    • Noah Penda: Also has some 3-and-D intrigue and can rack up some rebounds.
    • Mohamed Diawara: Provides energy nergy and defense, while being a willing shooter and just needs to knock shots down consistently. His ceiling is low, but the floor might be high.
    • Moussa Cisse: Energetic big man who should naturally collect big-man stats. Dereck Lively II is the main center of the future, but Daniel Gafford could be a trade chip for the Mavs and Lively may not be more than a 26-to-28-minute starter. There are minutes available to any backup in Dallas.

Honorary Mentions: Kam Jones, Adou Thiero, Alijah Martin, Ryan Nembhard, Micah Peavy, Brooks Barnhizer and Jamir Watkins.

    Honorable Mentions

Consider this space a blend of “double-check to see if this guy isn’t available” and other noteworthy, but not quite top picks, including some names for deep leagues.

I hope that all of our suggestions helped you throughout the season!

    No More Back-to-Backs

    We made it, everyone.

    Top Stories to Watch

Kennedy Chandler is NOT a member of the Jazz anymore:
Chandler’s second 10-day contract expired on Saturday and the Jazz signed Hayden Gray instead of offering Chandler a standard contract.

For the Nets, Tre Scott or Trevon Scott (points, 3s, rebounds, steals) signed his 10-day contract on April 2, meaning it expires on Sunday. That makes his status a bit murky unless we get word of a re-signing or that he is playing.

Players who are at risk of “playing a few seconds and checking out of the game” on Sunday:
Oftentimes, if you see just one rotation regular available on Sunday, that player is only planning to play one minute or if you’re lucky, one quarter, to try to play 82 games or qualify for some contract incentives. That means, you cannot trust that player for fantasy on Sunday.

    • Mikal Bridges: We have seen it every season at this point. He likely won’t play more than a minute on Sunday. The other core Knicks players are sidelined.
    • Donte DiVincenzo: He is literally the only important rotation player available. He is going to play a few seconds to get to 82 games and I’d be shocked if he plays more.
    • Bruce Brown: Besides Nikola Jokic (who is questionable), the other core rotation players are resting. I suspect we won’t get many Brown minutes, but I could be wrong.

With the constructions of the 65-game rule, some players will just be “getting their 20 minutes in” to be eligible for awards.ย

For example, Lu Dort only needs to play 20 minutes to qualify for the Defensive awards, so don’t expect too much from him. He is just “in it for the minutes.”

Nikola Jokic (who is questionable) only needs to play 15:00 to 19:59 to qualify for awards, since two games with that many minutes count as exceptions to the 65-game, 20-minute rule.

Besides Mikal Bridges, Bruce Brown and Donte DiVincenzo, other players looking to all in all 82 games include:
Javonte Green, Sion James, Brandin Podziemski, Desmond Bane, Toumani Camara, Jay Huff, Jake LaRavia, Oso Ighodaro, Reed Sheppard, Jamal Shead, Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Bub Carrington and Kris Dunn. That gives us a grand total of 17 players who are on course to play 82 games! I believe that number was much lower last season.

I would be a little worried about how much guys like Podziemski, Ighodaro, Sheppard, Champagnie and Johnson play given the status of their teams’ seeding, but among their teams, not all of them are resting core players. There is a chance that they only play one half, however.

Here is another interesting note. Some of you might be wondering why Devin Booker is sitting out when he has played in 64 games, right? Well, there were two games where he played fewer than 10 minutes because he got injured. The rule is 65 games of 20-plus minutes with two exceptions of 15:00 to 19:59. Basically, based on the rule, he has only played 62 award-eligible games.

As for Victor Wembanyama, he has played 62 games of 20-plus minutes, two games in the 15:00 to 19:59 range and the NBA Cup Final (which is not a regular-season game) also counts toward his eligibility for awards, so he does not need to play on Sunday because he has already qualified, but he might play anyway.

Here is another fun thing to take note of:

    My Injury Notes for Sunday
    Reminder!
    Q = questionable
    P = probable
    D = doubtful
These notes do not include players already ruled in or out. As I have explained in prior articles, these are notes I use while blurbing to keep track of pending news throughout the day, but I am sharing it during the fantasy playoffs so you guys are fully aware of what is pending for the day.

Remember, this will change during the day.
New players will be added to the injury report as well. That happens every day and it especially happens on the final day of the season.

Also, the 59-22 Pistons are only sitting out Jalen Duren at the time of writing. They may be trying to allow Cade Cunningham to get his conditioning and rhythm back, but most likely, I think they just want to win 60 games.

    General Note

There are going to be some weird performances. Kevin McCullar Jr. is a player who strikes me as a random 25-point performer, but I cannot suggest him as a streamer to you with any semblance of confidence. The “final verdicts” of pending injury designations will also adjust the streaming landscape. If the Hawks rule out everyone for example, I like Asa Newell (points, rebounds, 3s, steals, blocks), Buddy Hield (points, 3s), Keaton Wallace (assists, steals) and so on.

And remember, even players in the streaming sections could get downgraded from available to questionable (or worse) throughout the day.ย
