Gary Payton II

Payton might be doing better than you think. I blurbed this on Sunday night.

Gary Payton II was productive across 21 minutes off the bench on Sunday for 16 points (7-of-8 FG, 1-of-1 FT), one 3-pointer, five rebounds and one assist.

Payton has scored in double digits in his last 11 appearances and this was the first game in that run without a steal. He has five or more rebounds in seven of those games and in the 11-game run, he has shot below .500 just once. Payton should be on 12-team radars for decent points, steals, some out-of-position rebounds and good FG%. It may seem odd to label Payton as “must-roster” because of his odd stat profile, but he certain does belong on someone’s roster.
